Here's the scene at the site of the Iceman start.  Steve and I arrive very early to tie up loose ends and set some final trail markers... just before sunup.  Ice on the puddle, appropriately, a nice mist rising, the Kalkaska water tower, frost on the grass.  Nice!

The Iceman Cometh Challenge is a great day, with unpredictable weather, and a fantastic athletic event. The race takes place around the first Saturday of November, depending on where Halloween falls that year.

Steve Brown is the Iceman, race director, and an old friend.  I have created this catalog of pictures from this year's race to make the shots available to any of the riders who are interested, and to tell a bit of the story of the race.
